About Al Richards

The coach who lost more than most - and came back.

Al Richards lost his right leg below the knee. Weeks later he lost his wife. Before that he had already lost a 24-year career and walked through addiction and the slow heartbreak of a marriage strained by alcoholism.

He had every reason to stay down. The question he asked is the one every man in crisis asks: can I really do this?

What he discovered is that the storm is not the thing to run from. A buffalo turns and runs straight into the storm because that's the fastest way out the other side. Al turned into his. He stopped trying to bury the pain and started using it. Now he walks other men through the same passage he survived.

Lived, not learned

Therapy has its place. So do books and podcasts. None of them replace a man who's actually walked the road and will say the raw truth about it.

Direct, not clinical

If you wanted careful language, you'd already have it. You came here for the honest version. That's what you get.

Steady, not soft

We don't grow despite what happened. We grow because of it. The work is hard. So is the man it's building.

What guides the work

Al's Promise and Mission

We walk into the storm with you, not around it. We help you bury the past and harness what it taught you, so you stop surviving and start choosing where you go next.

  • Run at the storm.

What you don't face owns you. The fastest way out is through.

  • Tell the true thing.

Polished language sounds like a man who hasn't been there. We don't do that here.

  • Use the pain.

It's the only material you have. We turn it into the next chapter.

  • Choose forward.

    Recovery isn't a sentence. It's a starting line.

The community

The Healing Utah Success Summit

The summit and the AR Podcast exist for one reason: so a man in recovery isn't alone in the room. The brand is the man at the front of that room - and the men in the seats who nod because they've been there too.

Less alone

"The one emotional quality this brand creates that no competitor does: less alone."
